Visa type: F1 Visa

Interview date: 20th June 2024, 1:45 PM

(Arrived at about 1:00 Pm)

𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆: University of Texas at Arlington (UTA)

Term: Fall 2024

Intended Major: Business Analytics

Scholarship: Maverick 6k per year with an out-of-state tuition waiver.

VO description:  Middle-aged white man with long golden blonde curly hair and a calm voice.

Interview duration: 30-35 seconds! Yes, you’ve heard it right only 30-35 seconds.

Documents Carried: Passport, I-20, DS-160 Confirmation, Appointment Confirmation, SEVIS Fee Receipt, University Acceptance Letter, Academic Transcripts (including IELTS and SAT scores), Bank Solvencies, Bank Statement, Sponsor letter, business Trade licenses,  2x2 Photos

There was only one counter opened that day and the number of candidates was 100+. The VO was rejecting almost everyone. I remember he rejected 20 candidates continuously. In my mind, I was sure that I would get rejected but when I came near to the counter and started listening to the responses and details of other candidates I found out why they were rejected and I was sure that if there was one guy who will get the visa I am certainly that guy because I was confident with my responses and those weren’t scripted and mediocre. I crafted answers a connection with the university-specific programs of my departments and my plans to become a social entrepreneur.

Conversation with VO:

Me: Hi Officer (with a smile)

VO: Hi, pass me your I-20 and Passport.

Me: Yes sure, passes I-20 and passport

VO 𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴 𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘺 I-20, monitor and slightly looking back at me * So, why Texas with a smirk?

Me: Texas has good weather and there are really good universities for both science and business fields that's the reason I chose Texas.

VO: started to type

VO:   Who is going to be your sponsor?

Me: Both of my parents are going to sponsor me.

VO: and what do they do?

Me: My father is a civil engineer in government and he's been doing this job for 22 years now & my mother is a businesswoman she owns one of the top supply and distribution companies in our area which supplies products to supershops and retail shops.

VO: What does her company supply?

Me: Frozen Foods and dairy products.

VO: Intense typing for 5-10s

VO: Reaches for the blue leaflet Sign your I-20 at the immigration with a smile.

Me: Big Smiles and looks at him Thank you, Officer.

VO: Smiles and nods

Tip: There are three things that VO looks for: 1. Are you a genuine student who is not going to misuse the F1 visa? 2. Are you financially solvent? 3. Are you going to come back to your home country?

Insights and Suggestions: Don't get too nervous if candidates ahead of you get rejected even if all the other candidates get rejected. Believe in yourself that you will answer better than other candidates.  You have to think differently and personally about why you are going to choose this uni and that particular state. Instead of talking about better research opportunities and R1 based etc.(personal opinion)

Special: I’m available for the next couple of days so if you need help to craft your answers DM me. I’ll be happy to help and connect with you.
