15 Nov 2021. A random guy from nowhere who loves the regular comments of Kazi Ahnaf Saad Bhai on BBB just ED’d to Oberlin fifteen days before the HSC exam with high hopes of skipping all the Deshi admission tests and surprising his family. Dangg! As you know, he failed so drastically in Fall’22 that didn’t even think to apply the next fall. Luckily, one of my close friends and my elder brother supported my decision to ditch the current Deshi University and go for USA things again. I left the school, worked for the SAT ( took it twice), spent time researching unis, approaching experienced people, and trying to nourish the essays, and ECA’s. Man, it was worth taking a risk than never.

Now, coming to the main point. Should you take it?

You’re not a SATish person to achieve a good minimal score. Well, that was me. Once Rommo Bhai told me that SAT scores could be increased whoever you’re. Practice more and more and trust the process. I’m a 1050 to 1390. So you got it I guess.

My family isn't supporting gap years. Yeah, I was kinda privileged you can say. What I can say is if you think you can do it and have a minimal EFC (depending on the goal, can you bear it after full tuition/80%+ scholarships?), please try to convince your parents. Remember, EFC plays a huge role in your overall profile.

Work on extracurricular activities. There are some recent posts about this topic like how you should work on it.

Try to shortlist college lists wisely with enough Safety schools minding your profile and EFC and don’t miss the public unis’ scholarships’ priority deadlines ( Nov 01- Dec 01).

Essays. Brainstorm, write drafts, repeat. This thing works like WATER in the body of your overall profile. So take it seriously from now on.

I’m not encouraging you to take gaps if you have better options here in BD. Just I’m telling you that don’t be afraid if you believe in yourself. Let me know if I can help you with something as BBB gave it all these years to me. You are going to nail it at the end of this journey.

If I summarize my Fall’24:

Profile: HSC- 5.00  SAT: 1390  ECA: Mediocre. I believe my Essay was kinda cool hehe.

Got into Wabash, FIU, USF, UTA, Temple, and some more.
