Nowadays I see posts like " I want to go to USA/CANADA or etc country but my budget is low"

So, my question is then why you need to choose that particular country if it's not in your budget?? Is it kinda show off for you or what???

Please try to understand first that, particular country can't make your life great. It's you who will make your life great wherever you are. I have seen my friends from CHINA/ JAPAN/ KOREA/ GERMANY and many more countries are doing great. It's because they have the potential, they have the skills which are needed to be the best.

I am living in Poland and I know a lot of people doesn't know about this country or don't think it's a good  country. But I am living here since 2018 and I am telling you that I am having a great time here. I have never faced any financial issues or I have never felt depressed.

Because I chose this country according to my financial ability. I am working in a multinational company and people around me working in the top level companies here and leading a great life . I have seen people got great sponsorship jobs to their dream countries also after graduating from China/Japan/ Poland / etc countries..

So the thing is here you don't need to go to USA/CANADA  to lead a great life. If your budget is low choose accordingly. It's better to have a happy life instead of having a depressed life for financial issues in your dream country.

& one more thing please try to understand that USA/CANADA are not the only countries. There are lot of countries around the world which provide great education with great experience. If you really want to go to somewhere which is not in your budget then first try to find out how can you go without this financial obstacles or first try to graduate from a country within your budget and within that time develop yourself in a way that after graduation you can easily move to your dream country.

Why do you think that Harvard, MIT, and Stanford are the only 3 schools worth applying to in the US?

PS If it’s not clear this is meant to be a sarcastic question. The point I am trying to convey is this, even domestic students with perfect SAT scores and an extraordinary profile finds it difficult to get into these schools or any of the Ivy Leagues. I know only one person from my high school who got into UPenn. And the Bengali parents here who spends thousands of dollars for things like SAT prep for their child, those kind of parents who are hellbent on their children studying in a top ranked university, they do this mainly for bragging rights. Rankings aside, majority of schools in the States provide a quality education imo. You just need to find one that best suits your profile and habitat. Don’t be so obsessed with the rankings of the Ivy leagues, all the hassle is not worth it. To have dreams is definitely commendable, but the dreams need to be attainable and realistic in the first place! Don’t mean to offend anyone.

Posting again on behalf of my cousin

I am planning to apply ED 2 to US liberal arts college. What LACs would be a good choice for me to get in ?

1. Haverford college

2. Bryn Mawr College

3. Smith college

4. Mount Holyoke college

A/n : Test optional. 98% on both SSC and HSC. Got board scholarship from Dhaka board.

A/n 2 : EFC ~ 10k

Question to the current student/alumnus/ someone who applied at University of British Columbia.

1. If the degrees choose when applying let’s say faculty of applied science and engineering. Is it possible to get accepted in both of them? Or they will accept you into one of the degree?

2. When do you choose the program you want to specialize in? Do all first year students in the degree study the same subjects?

3. 48K CAD for Faculty of Science and 60 k CAD for Faculty of Applied Science. Is there anyone who got the maximum 35K CAD entrance scholarship each year?

4. After I am done with the education planner bc portal, am i given a new university portal to submit transcripts? Do i need to submit the transcript before

Jan 15 deadline? How long after i pay the fee and application planner bc do i get the uni portal?

On behalf,

I lost every hope. Please don't be judgemental.

I have requested almost every single science teacher in my college to submit my LORs. I have already written, they just need to submit it and it takes five to ten minutes. But, they are not agreeing. Everyday, they are just scolding more. As a BCS cadre, they are so arrogant.

I couldn’t able to present in classroom in person as COVID-19 was roaring at that time.

So, would it be a problem if I create a gmail account by their name and upload my LOR without signature?

I don’t have any other way. I felt too embarrassed already. I know It's not right, but can you suggest me any other better ways.

It’s that time of the year!!

When half of the students are basking in the glory of their ED1 acceptances and the other half are giving their final touch to their RD applications hoping for that coveted acceptance from their dream college. As someone who’s been part of both sides of the aisle(gap year things), I know the stress and toll it takes on you to complete everything at the last moment. With that being said, I would be more than happy to contribute in any way to your application or review any last minute supplements in the upcoming few days (note: I won’t write your essay for you by any means)

I would’ve had zero chances of surviving two application sessions if it wasn’t for all the college students who, amidst their busy schedules still took the time to review my essays and answer any of my silly questions. Time to do the same for others.

A little about me: I’m currently a freshman at Mount Holyoke College with full need met. I also got accepted to a few other liberal arts colleges but decided to come to Mount Holyoke. Go Lyons 🫶

Depends what you do. Here’s a theoretical upper limit:

Quant interns (citadel or Hudson River) can earn 120 usd an hour  so 40 hours * 12 weeks * 120 usd/hour = 57600k. During school year you can do 20 hours a week CPT. I had a friend at Nvidia (interning on part time during terms) earning 52 usd an hour so he earned potentially 30 weeks * 20 hours * 52 = 31,200.

So that’s about 90k.

Now that’s the absolute theoretical upper limit. Most people don’t earn anything remotely close to it. Computer science interns earn between 8-26k in summer. And during school year probably 10k max. You don’t get all the hours or the best jobs or school gets in the way.

I’m a fall’25 applicant. Although I’m from Bangla Medium,  I wanna sit for the AP exams to make my profile more loaded. But I might not be able to sit for it next May as My HSC exam is in June. So My question is, will it be beneficial if I send a predicted AP score and then sit for it in 2025? One of my seniors said it won’t make that much difference as AOs don’t trust in any predicted scores.
