----------------------------------------------------

College: Michigan State University

Intended Program:  BSc in Computer and Information Sciences

Intended Term: Fall 2023

---------------------------------------------------

Things that I carried with me: old and new passport, signed I-20, DS-160 confirmation, EBL money receipt, SEVIS fee confirmation, all academic Transcripts, IELTS score, Duolingo score, SAT score, Bank statement and solvency certificate of sponsor, most recent tax return of sponsor, TIN, proof of income of sponsor, financial affidavit of sponsor (don’t need)

You actually don’t need 90% of these things. Just passports and I-20 are enough. You’ll need the other documents only if the VO asks them. But try to carry all of these to be safe.

----------------------------------------------------

VO: Hi! (with a smile)

Me: Good Morning, ma’am! How are you?

VO: I’m fine. Pass me your I-20 and passport please.

Me: Here you go

VO: What are you currently doing?

Me: I’ve graduated from Cumilla Cadet College on 8th February 2023. I ..(didn’t let me finish)

VO: Where are you going?

Me: Ma’am, I’m going to Michigan State University to pursue my BSc in Computer and Information Sciences

VO: Who is going to cover your expenses?

Me: Both of my parents are going to cover my expenses.

VO: What do they do?

Me: My father is a textile engineer. He is the executive director of Amber Super Yarn. My mother is a gynecologist. She is an assistant professor at Colonel Malek Medical College. She is also a government service holder.

VO: Have you visited any other countries?

Me: Yes, Ma’am. I have visited Sikkim and Darjeeling of India in 2019.

VO: What courses are you planning to take?

Me: (I have no idea what courses I will take. I went through the CS requirement of MSU, but couldn’t get a clear idea about it. So, while preparing for the interview I asked respected Chat GPT about it) Ma’am I’ll be taking 5 courses in my 1st semester. Introduction to Programming I & II, Calculus I, Physics for engineers and scientists, and writing as inquiry.

VO: I’m approving your visa. (Showing I-20) Remember to take this while traveling. (Returns back my I-20)

Dumb me: (While going to the exit, I realized that VO didn’t give me my passport back. I panicked and returned to the counter :3) Ma’am, my passport?

VO: It is here. We’ll keep it

(Then I remembered je I will get my passport back after getting my visa stamped)

The moment my interview was over, I forgot everything the VO asked me. I tried to remember my conversation with the VO for the last 7 days. I hope I didn’t miss anything.

I was prepared for any question the VO would throw at me. I planned my responses ahead of time and practiced them every day. I was concerned that I might become anxious and mess up. Fortunately, I was confident and didn't do anything stupid until the very last second. I spent a significant amount of time preparing for the interview. I've read through all of the interview experiences provided in this group several times. And based on that, I created a draft for myself that I followed.

Tips: If you read other people's interview experiences, you'll bujhte parba je why they were denied. One of the most common causes of visa rejection is the inability to describe the sponsor's occupation. When students are asked what their parents do, they cannot explain well. I witnessed three people being turned down in front of me simply because they couldn't adequately describe their father's business. Always be confident of what you're saying. I was quite concerned about my attire. But keo takabeo na tomar dress er dike. If you wear too casual then shobar chokh e porbe jinish ta which may be good or bad. Don’t know. But dress doesn’t matter. Normally, the VO remains typing continuously. The majority of what you say won't even get their attention. However, my VO was attentively watching me the entire time and heard all I said. "Why this college" and "Sponsor" are the two topics to which they will pay attention. Read others’ experiences. Don’t go unprepared. Be confident. That’s all. Godspeed!

A little suggestion for the new people who post – “USA jabo, process ki”, “SSC, HSC te gpa 5 paisi, akhon ki korte hobe”, “amar profile ‘x’, ami ki Harvard-mit te chance pabo”. At first do a little research on your own, then post your specific quarries in the group. Everything is searchable on Google. Simply go to a university's website; you can get the majority of the information there. Samin Rahman, Dipro Prattoy, Tasfiqur Rob - bhaiyas have amazing videos. Watch those. Then ask your question.

Another point is that if you don't have much of a problem, avoid posting anonymously. I believe you'll get a good response. (Personal Opinion)

If anyone other than me going to MSU, I would love to connect.More the merrier.

This group has helped me a lot throughout my journey. I will forever be grateful. A little try to return the favor: I have a PDF of people’s interview experience. I’ve collected it from various groups, mostly this one. Hope it will help you guys. Really sorry je the PDF if just a compilation of interviews. Didn’t edit or do anything to make it look good.
